Blues music project

As part of the widening opportunities project within the county, our 6/5 pupils have the chance to learn about and play the drums, lead and bass guitars and the keyboard. The classes work in small groups with local musicians for a block of lessons, before moving on to experience playing another of the instruments. Each week these lessons are eagerly anticipated, with practice between sessions on anything the children can find to drum or strum around the classroom or the home.

Hopefully by busking day we will be able to demonstrate our new found skills with a battle of the bands.

Musical instruments

As our DT project this half term we have been making musical instruments. We began by investigating sound in science lessons and then used this knowledge to design our own. It was a noisy afternoon producing a range of percussion and stringed instruments, both tuned and untuned.

Pancake day

On Tuesday we were delighted to welcome Mrs Williamson back to the 6/5 classes to help us make pancakes. We talked about why we traditionally have pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and how to make the batter. We had great fun cooking and of course eating them.
