Tag Rugby Tournament 13/11/07

2 teams competed in the annual tag rugby tournament at Diss High School. These consisted of 4 girls and 4 boys from year 6.

The A team were in a league with Burston B, Bressingham and Tivetshall and won all their matches in the first 3 rounds. The B team played against Burston A, Winfarthing and North Lopham, and improved their performance as the afternoon progressed.

The final was between Roydon A and Burston A. This was a close match, finishing 6-6 at full time which meant the children had to play for a 'golden try'. It was an exciting and tense finish, with Burston very nearly scoring on a number of occasions but Roydon defended very well to prevent them from doing so. Eventually George managed to break free and flew down the wing to score the winning try!

It was a really good afternoon of sport. Well done to all who took part - and we can look forward to the next round of the competition sometime in March.

Redgrave and Lopham Fen

As part of our topic about rivers we went to on a field trip to Redgrave and Lopham Fen to look at the River Waveney.

We found the source - which was very muddy.

At different points along the river we measured the width, depth and temperature.

The first measurement was 1m 20cm wide but very quickly it increased to 7m.

We also sketched the views of the Fen.
After lunch we took part in different water activities, learning about the water cycle, meanders and water conservation. It was an enjoyable day out!
